Somi, an Indigenous Indian woman, faces the threat of eviction from her land. A few years ago, Somi was an armed Naxalite-Maoist rebel. Now, she’s determined to lead her community in resisting the displacement—this time without her rifle. Green is the Fire’s Tint is a sequel to A Rifle and a Bag (2020 Rotterdam International Film Festival, Special Mention of the Jury in the Bright Future Competition), which followed Somi and her husband’s experience leaving the movement and striving to reconcile their past with the desire to integrate into Indian society.

Green is the Fire's Tint was supported through the 2023 Research & Development Grant.
