Mexican-Salvadoran filmmaker Tatiana Huezo graduated from the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica and holds a Master Degree in Documental de Creación from the Universidad Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. She gained an international reputation with her debut feature The Tiniest Place which screened at more than 80 international festivals.
Her work has been recognized internationally and acknowledged by The Mexican Academy of Film Arts and Sciences with four Ariel Awards, among them Best Documentary and Best Director for Tempestad (2016). The film premiered in the Forum program at the 66th Berlinale and was selected to represent Mexico at the Academy Awards and the Goya Awards, where it was nominated to compete in the category of Best Ibero-American Film for the latter.
For the last few years, she has been teaching, giving conferences, and imparting workshops in academic contexts like The Madrid Film School; University of California, Santa Barbara; The Green House, Israel; Georgetown University; Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica [CCC]; among others. Her academic activities also include editing the book El viaje… Rutas y caminos andados para llegar a otro planeta which was produced by the CCC and DocumentaMadrid.
Recently she directed Noche de Fuego, her first fiction film.
