Director & Producer

Tamara Kotevska (she/her) was born in the humble land-locked town of Prilep, North Macedonia, with no family legacy in film. Her debut film, Honeyland, swept the three top awards at Sundance 2019, and was the first documentary to be nominated for Academy Awards for both Best Documentary and Best International Feature.

From the backroads of Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Skopje, Tamara’s "docu-fable" films are a visceral, poetic blending of raw reality and ancient storytelling.

Her latest feature, The Tale of Silyan, was a National Geographic selection, a Venice Film Festival Muse Award winner, and winner of the best Documentary and Best Cinematography awards at IDA, alongside more than 20 global accolades. Her upcoming fiction feature, Man vs. Flock, won a grand prize at Les Arcs 2025, and her documentary work is supported by Sundance Sandbox and Catapult. Tamara is a Chicken & Egg Awardee.

Tamara's CEA project is The Mammoths that Tried to Escape the Kingdom of Elrih Khan.
