Born in Paris, Raphaële Benisty (she/her) studied documentary filmmaking at the Sorbonne University before moving to Burkina Faso in 2001, where she spent four years filming. She has directed several documentaries for French television and participated in numerous international festivals. Her most recent film, There’s No Word For Love (2023), follows the journey of interpreters for asylum seekers and refugees and continues to be screened in theaters and at festivals. The question of identity is at the heart of her approach as a filmmaker.
