To filmmaker Cherine Karam, the city of Beirut stands for joy, beauty, creativity, and most importantly, home. The tiny vintage shop Dépôt-Vente represents all of that. Whenever she feels down, she visits the shop and its eccentric owner, Nawal, who lifts her spirits by asking her to model upcycled outfits for the shop’s Instagram. But outside its walls, Beirut is collapsing. After meeting the love of her life abroad, Cherine moves to the US, leaving behind the daily struggles of a broken country. Yet, letting go of home is harder than expected. Her film about Dépôt-Vente captures Beirut’s unseen beauty while revealing that in Lebanon, change is the only constant.

Dépôt-Vente is a 2025 (Egg)celerator Lab film.
