The Critical Issues Fund supported filmmakers focused on topical issues that had a decided and material impact on communities domestically and internationally.

A special fund in response to a survey surfacing a great need among our alumni filmmakers going through financial hardship due to the effects of COVID-19.

Docs by the Dozen
The program engaged with our AlumNest, built meaningful partnerships with like minded organizations and companies, and generated artistic and innovative short films and series that were designed to increase a filmmaker’s financial stability.

In collaboration with the Knight Foundation, the Fellowship supported women and gender expansive nonfiction directors from cities where the foundation invested and who were working on their first or second feature-length documentary.
