We’re Excited to Reintroduce Ourselves
Graphic: Chicken & Egg Films

C&E POV
Our new brand is an exciting evolution in how we show up to live out our purpose—with radical tenderness, guts, and joy.

Dear beloved community–filmmakers, peers, partners, supporters, and beyond,

We’ve undertaken our first rebranding effort in 20 years as an organization. This moment has been long in the making! I’m incredibly proud to reintroduce you all to Chicken & Egg Films.

Why rebrand? Simply put, we’ve grown beyond what our old look and feel signified. We’ve evolved past some of our old language too. We knew we needed a brand that better reflected our passionate commitment to a better world and our unique role in building it.

So, what’s changed?

Well, for one, we have a new expression of our mission and vision:

Our vision:

We see a world transformed because the stories and storytellers we uplift inspire empathy, learning, and action.

Our mission:

We champion women and gender-expansive documentary filmmakers around the globe with funding, mentorship, and access so they can tell stories that ignite change.

We’re excited to reinforce our devotion to supporting women and gender-expansive filmmakers worldwide with the tools and resources they need in order to flourish. And our vision lays out clearly that we invest in these storytellers because we know their stories help us all see a full diversity of human experiences and perspectives. This invites transformation and possibility, helping us relate to and care for one another and opening our paths forward toward a just and equitable world.

You might have noticed we have a new look as well. We’d like to thank Pentagram for their incredible work taking on our visual identity as a pro bono project. Our old logo, colors, and graphic elements told who we were, not so much who we are today. Our new logo does still feature a chicken and an egg. This feels appropriate given that our filmmakers still face massive chicken or egg conundrums in pursuing their work (for example: filmmakers need funding in order to create footage, but footage is required in order to acquire funding). But our new look better signals the bold joy of our response to these challenges: “yes, both, and.” We are an organization invested in radically tender support for filmmakers across art and career. We adapt to meet filmmakers where they are, and we’re oriented to holistically problem-solve with rather than for.

The final piece I’d like to point out is our new website, designed by Rachel Gogel and Shawn Sprockett and developed by MOM Design. We’re thrilled that this digital space can better function to hold our robust archive of supported films and programs and database of alumni. But, we’re also excited that it’s designed for us to start sharing more of our perspective as an organization, our stories as team members. We hope you’ll check back often as we get our blog up and running–it’ll feature staff and filmmaker interviews, festival recaps, open call tips and guidance, and far beyond.

Thanks for being here, and celebrating a new chapter for Chicken & Egg Films.

Warmly,

Jenni Wolfson
