
Tatiana Fernández Geara (she/her) received a Fulbright scholarship for her MA in Photojournalism at University of Missouri, where she started a project about Dominican nannies which became her first documentary: Nana (2015). Her second feature, Santo Domingo Waltz (2021), about three teenage boys challenging gender roles while dancing ballet, premiered at Festival Internacional de Cine de Guadalajara (FICG) winning Honorable Mention. She writes, directs, shoots and co-produces all her films through her production company, Cine Carmelita. She also freelances as a photojournalist.
