Sumie García (she/her) is a visual artist and filmmaker whose work has been shown in 15 countries. She directed Familiar Tale, which premiered in the international competition of Visions du Réel 2017, won "Best Documentary Short Film” at the Morelia IFF, and was nominated for a Mexican Academy Award. Her first feature Yūrei (ghosts) premiered at Morelia IFF and was awarded the TVUNAM Award during FICUNAM 2024. She is a member of the prestigious Mexican National System of Art Creators (SNCA).
