Ilrhan Kim (she/her) is an award-winning filmmaker and the founder of PINKS: Queer Feminist Media Group, producing films that center on queer communities and survivors of national tragedies. Her debut feature documentary, Mamasang: Remember Me This Way (2004), premiered at the Seoul International Women’s Film Festival and won the Women’s News Award. Her second film, 3XFTM, became the first documentary about trans men to receive theatrical distribution in South Korea. Her third film, Two Doors (2011), was selected among the Top 100 Korean Films by the Korean Film Archive; its sequel, The Remnants (2016), received the Independent Film of the Year Award (2017) and the Best Female Film of the Year Award (2018). Her most recent film, Edhi Alice (2024), premiered at IDFA. As a producer, Ilrhan’s credits include Miracle on Jongno Street (2010), the first documentary about gay people coming out in Korea, which won the Best Documentary Award at the Busan International Film Festival, and Nora Noh (2013), a film about a legendary female fashion designer in South Korea, which premiered at IDFA.
