Hugo Chávez Carvajal (he/him) is an anthropologist, filmmaker, and producer working at the intersection of ethnographic research and documentary creation. He holds a PhD in Anthropological Sciences from UAM Iztapalapa. As a director, he specializes in collaborative nonfiction narratives, notably the interactive webdoc Reparar: Extendamos la vida útil de las cosas (2022) and the award-winning short Manteniendo trayectorias (2019). His work as a producer has earned international acclaim, including for the feature film Llamarse Olimpia (2025). Other production credits include Amor Ice (2023) and La sombra de las palmeras (2024).
