Derren Lawford (he/him) launched DARE PICTURES, a transnational TV and Film company working in both documentary and fiction in 2022. Notable projects include Crypto Queen: Visionary, Victim or Villain?, a premium unscripted series with Channel 4, Sky Germany, and Fremantle directed by Rudolph Herzog; and Dalton’s Dream, a feature documentary for BBC Storyville directed by Kim Longinotto and Franky Murray Brown, backed by the BFI’s Global Screen Fund and distributed by Dogwoof. Lawford was also part of the team behind last year’s BAFTA Award-winning film, The Black Cop. Prior to DARE Pictures, Derren was Creative Director at Woodcut Media, where he executive produced a trio of documentaries sold to Netflix: Generation Revolution, Mandela, My Dad and Me, and Cut from a Different Cloth, co-produced with Idris Elba’s Green Door Pictures. Aside from DARE Pictures, Derren is also a mentor for Documentary Campus Masterschool and a Trustee for Sheffield DocFest.
