Carla Gutiérrez (she/her) won the 2025 Emmy for Best Director for her feature film Frida, which premiered at Sundance 2024 and received the Best Editing award; it was also shortlisted for the Academy Awards. Carla edited the Oscar-nominated films RBG and La Corona, as well as Julia, which screened at Telluride and Toronto. Her work has earned honors from Sundance, Tribeca, and Berlinale. She is a member of AMPAS and ACE, and holds a master’s in documentary film from Stanford University.
