Alma Har’el began her work as a photographer and a video jockey in dance clubs, before becoming a music video director. She directed Beirut’s “Elephant Gun,” which was chosen as one of the best music videos of the decade in 2010, as well as “Fjogur Piano” for Sigur Ros, starring Shia Labeouf, which has over 2.2 million hits on YouTube. Her documentary, Bombay Beach, took the top prize at Tribeca Film Festival in 2011, was nominated for a 2011 Independent Spirit “Truer than Fiction” award, and has been taught at Harvard’s Sensory Ethnography Lab and Film Center.
