A group of warehouse workers launches an extraordinary grassroots union campaign at an Amazon fulfillment center in Staten Island, New York. Led by the charismatic but underestimated Chris Smalls, the diverse band of workers starts the Amazon Labor Union (ALU) and embarks on a journey against one of the largest and most powerful companies in the world. The odds are stacked against them, as the group faces a tech industry giant with unlimited resources, a lack of major support from national unions or politicians, and internal divisions within their own ranks. Through intimate vérité footage from day one, the film offers a gripping human drama about the struggle for power and dignity in today's globalized economic landscape.
Union was supported through Brett Story’s 2023 Chicken & Egg Award and was a participant of Project: Hatched 2024.
