After being adopted at ten months old, white twins Anjali and Meghna are raised in an Indian American family rooted in Hindu traditions. Though loved and cared for, they yearn to know their White birth mother, Brandy. When Lakshmi, their adoptive mother, becomes pregnant unexpectedly, she’s inspired to help her adopted daughters reconnect with Brandy and find their estranged Native American birth father. This journey forces Lakshmi to confront Brandy’s homelessness and struggles while challenging her daughters’ understanding of identity and belonging as they feel increasingly disconnected from their White, Indian, and Indigenous families.
